Message Channel Character Generator
With Scheduling and Multi-Channel Networking

McCG Plus User Interface

Create your own Multi-Channel Community Message System.

The McCG Plus is a very Flexible Message Channel software package with Multi-Channel Networking and Scheduling. It is designed especially for Cable, Educational, Industrial, and Corporate users, or anyone who wants to use multiple Message Channels (either local or remote) to quickly get their message across to their communities via Television Screens. It comes with a very flexible, easy to use, Message Compose program for creating High Quality Message Pages. Once the Message Pages have been composed, they can be displayed automatically or completely under Manual Control.

Message Pages can contain Text (of course), Background Color boxes, Geometric Shapes, full-color graphic images as Logos, and either a Background Graphic or Background Video. The text is created using TrueType typefaces and can be Sized, Kerned, Rotated, and Italicized. Each character can have up to Two Edges and Three Shadows. The character's edges and shadows can be colorized with a solid color, a vertical Color Spread, a Color Gradient (4pt, 5pt, or linear), or Textures.

McCG Plus can also be used to display Standard Format Graphic Images as well as Text Animation Sequences. Text Animations Sequences are created by the Title Composer using the Text FX features. Message Pages, Graphic Images, and Text Animation Sequences can be freely intermixed with one another in any order.

Once the Message Pages have been created, they can be added to a Display List so they can be automatically sequenced on either Local or Remote Channels. Each page will be displayed with the Page Transition Type, Transition Speed, and Dwell Duration that the user selected for the page. The Message Pages will continue to automatically sequence until you stop it. This feature is very useful for creating Video Kiosks, Digital Signage Systems, and Message Information Channels. Multiple Display Lists can be combined into Schedules so that they can be programmed to start at the desired time on the desired day(s) . They can be programmed to play once, or repeat.

Drivers are available for the following Display Cards:
  • AJA Xena
  • Black Magic Design's Decklink
  • Standard VGA Cards (Single and Dual Head)
  • With More Being Added All The Time. (SDK available)
We even have a free
Fully Functional Evaluation Copy
of the software for you to download.

  How it Works

Media Catalogs
The Media Catalog (shown below) is divided into three groups based upon the type of images that the software can display. These are Titles, Text Animations, and Graphic Images. These images can be quickly added to the Display List Editor to create a Display List.

  • The Title Catalog shows the Message Pages in the current project.

  • The Text Animation Catalog shows the Text Animations that have been created and pre-rendered with the Title Composer.

  • The Graphic Image Catalog shows the graphic images stored in the folders that are included in the catalog.

The Display List Editor (shown at left) is used to create and edit Display Lists. You can Add, Delete, and Duplicate images here. An image can be added here by double clicking it in the Media Catalog or dragging it from the Media Catalog and dropping it into the Display List. You can also change the order of the images in this window using "drag and drop". This will change the order that the pages will be displayed. You can also randomly select the next page to display for those "last minute" changes.
Preview Window
The program previews an Image before it is displayed to ensure that the wrong one won't be shown. The Preview Window (shown at right) previews the next Image to be shown. Use "drag and drop" to drag the page to be previewed from either the Display List or the Media Catalog. Double clicking on an image in the Display List can also be used to select an image to be previewed. The size of this window can be controlled from the "View" Menu.

Scheduling
The McCG Plus can Schedule multiple Display Lists to sequence at pre-determined times. A Schedule is made up of "Schedule Events". A "Schedule Event" tells the program which Display List to sequence and when to start and stop it. Schedules are created by The Schedule Editor (shown below).

The Event Editor is at the top of the Schedule Editor Window. It is made up of the controls inside of the box labeled "Selected Event". These controls are used to select the Display List to display during the Event, when to start the Event, when to end the Event, and how often (if at all) the Event should be repeated.

The Timeline is at the bottom of the Schedule Editor Window. It shows a graphic representation of the Events that are scheduled for every minute of every day of the week.

Multi-Channel Networking
Multiple Channels of McCG Plus can be connected together through a local network. The program automatically does its own network configuration. It searches the network for other channels. When another channel is found, it is automatically added to the list of available channels.

When starting a new sequence, the "Play Story" window (shown at left) is displayed. All of the channels found on the local network appear in the list labeled "Channel:". To start the sequence on the local channel select "This Computer". To start the sequence on a remote channel, select it from the list of channels and start the sequence.
When a sequence is started on a remote channel, all of the files (Schedules, Display Lists, Pages, Typefaces, Graphics, etc.) needed to display it are automatically sent to the remote channel. Only the files that are missing or outdated are sent, thereby drastically reducing the amount of data needing to be transferred.
